BDTI’s Pocket GuideAn Independent Guide to Processing Engines for Embedded ApplicationsBDTI’s “Pocket Guide” is an independent guide to processing engines for embedded applications, containing key features of dozens of different families of the most popular processing devices used in embedded applications—including DSP processors, CPUs, microcontrollers, and FPGAs—from 18 vendors. The Pocket Guide includes basic specifications for each device: arithmetic type, data width, instruction width, speed, on-chip memory, voltage, price, and unique features. For many devices, it also provides an indication of DSP performance based on results obtained from the BDTI DSP Kernel Benchmarks™. The BDTImark2000™ (or BDTIsimMark2000™) is a composite benchmark score derived from the 12 algorithm kernels of the BDTI DSP Kernel Benchmarks. The Pocket Guide also indicates available results on other BDTI Benchmark suites, including the BDTI Video Encoder/Decoder Benchmarks™, the BDTI Communications Benchmark (OFDM)™, and the BDTI Solution Benchmark™ for H.264 Decoders. The current online version of the Pocket Guide was updated October 2009. If you find the information in the Pocket Guide useful, you may also be interested in our Buyer's Guide to DSP Processors, a 550-page technical report on key programmable DSP processors, including independent benchmark results and architectural analyses, or in one of our many Inside reports that provide detailed analysis and performance benchmarking of some of the processors listed in the Pocket Guide. For a concise summary of all available resources on processors from BDTI, click here for a table listing 60 processor architectures from 22 vendors. For many of these, BDTI has provided a brief summary of the processor's key architectural characteristics.
