BDTI’s Pocket Guide

An Independent Guide to Processing Engines for DSP

BDTI’s “Pocket Guide” is an independent guide to processing engines for DSP, containing key features of 48 different families of the most popular processing devices used in DSP applications—including DSP processors, CPUs, microcontrollers, and FPGAs—from 15 vendors. The Pocket Guide includes information on each device: arithmetic type, data width, instruction width, speed, relative DSP performance (based on a BDTI composite DSP benchmark score, the BDTImark2000™ or BDTIsimMark2000™), on-chip memory, voltage, price, and unique features.

The current online version of the Pocket Guide was updated October 2007.

If you find the information in the Pocket Guide useful, you may also be interested in our Buyer's Guide to DSP Processors, 2004 Edition, a 550-page technical report on key programmable DSP processors, including independent benchmark results and architectural analyses, or in one of our many Inside reports that provide detailed analysis and performance benchmarking of some of the processors listed in the Pocket Guide.

For a concise summary of all available resources on processors from BDTI, click here for a table listing 60 processor architectures from 22 vendors. For many of these, BDTI has provided a brief summary of the processor's key architectural characteristics.
