Position Available: Entry-Level Technology Analyst

The Technology Analyst position involves the analysis of state-of-the-art signal processing technology to figure out its hidden strengths and weaknesses. The technology analyst will work closely with other analysts and BDTI engineers to evaluate emerging technologies and then translate the resulting analysis into a variety of formats, including analysis reports, magazine articles, and seminars. Ideal candidates for this position will have a general knowledge of signal-processing technology, enjoy a continual state of learning, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

Background

BDTI is respected worldwide for its insightful analysis of digital signal processing (DSP) technologies. When companies need to develop, choose, or use signal processing technology with maximum confidence, they come to us. Our customers include the most influential--and some of the most innovative--companies involved in digital signal processing technology today.

BDTI publishes highly regarded analysis reports, such as "Buyer's Guide to DSP Processors," which are widely used throughout the industry. BDTI contributes analytical articles to a variety of engineering publications, including EE Times, and presents seminars on signal-processing technologies for engineers, marketing staff, and business managers. BDTI also provides a variety of consulting services to help companies create, improve, and use signal-processing technology.

The company was founded over ten years ago by U.C. Berkeley faculty and researchers.

The Job

In this position, your responsibilities may include:

  • Analyzing and comparing signal processing technologies and writing about their key differences. Areas of analysis include:
    • Processors and other processing engines, such as FPGAs
    • Tools and software
    • Applications
    • Algorithms
  • Developing analysis methodologies to evaluate technologies and products
  • Evaluating industry and technology trends
  • Writing reports and technical articles for a variety of publications, in a variety of writing styles
  • Editing (and in some cases, overhauling) articles, reports, and presentations written by others
  • Creating and presenting seminars
  • Contributing to BDTI's Sounding Board service, through which BDTI helps signal processing technology vendors develop and improve their marketing messages

To be successful in this position, you must be able to manage multiple concurrent assignments, with multiple deadlines.

If you have most of the following, we want to hear from you:

  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills
  • Exceptional analysis skills
  • Technical writing experience
  • Familiarity with the architecture and instruction set of one or more processors
  • Familiarity with one or more signal-processing applications
  • Familiarity with digital signal processing fundamentals
  • Strong organizing skills
  • An ability and willingness to juggle multiple assignments, adapt to fast-changing circumstances, and do what it takes to get the job done.
