BDTI provides independent benchmarking of processors, processor cores, and other processing devices such as multicore processors, FPGAs, and configurable processors. BDTI offers six suites of benchmarks that the CTO of one global semiconductor company has called “the only benchmarks that make sense.” For more than 10 years, BDTI has used its proprietary, de facto industry-standard processor benchmarking methodology, the BDTI DSP Kernel Benchmarks™, to evaluate the signal processing capabilities of dozens of processor architectures. Since 2001, BDTI has added five suites of benchmarks in order to serve the industry’s need to explore the use of emerging processing technologies such as FPGAs, and heterogeneous and homogeneous multicore devices. These benchmark suites are:
- The BDTI Communications Benchmark (OFDM)™ enables the assessment of processors and other processing devices, such as FPGAs, for performance on a complex real-world communications task.
- The BDTI Video Encoder and Decoder Benchmarks™ and the BDTI Video Kernel Benchmarks™ enable characterization of processing performance in an important new application area.
- In 2009, BDTI introduced the BDTI Optical Flow Benchmark™ as a component of its methodology for evaluation of high-level synthesis tools. The BDTI Optical Flow Benchmark is a demanding video application used in computer vision applications in video surveillance, driver assistance (e.g., collision avoidance), security, and mil-aero.
- BDTI also provides the BDTI Solution Benchmarks™, a new methodology that makes it possible to compare competing hardware-software multimedia solutions.
